Essentials for a Traveller

Olá,

In psychic times there’s not many far destinations you can securely reach and come back.

You’re on your own, just as you where 100 years ago.

The difference is in fact that basic infrastructure exists everywhere. electricity in a jungle camp, wireless data, too, pharmacies and shops of most goods not too far.

The essentials to look for now are the quality things you need to have and allow you to be auto-sufficient, or at least can be maintained with the basic mass-products available globally in an average micro-market.

Water-filter, anti-bacterial pills, disinfectant, Multi-wear mask, hygiene rubber gloves, finest Moskito-net and spray.

Stove, water-bottle, larger multipurpose cup, spoon, fork, multi-purpose knive and little cream, soap containers for the wash, clean, maintenance fluids needed for body and gear.

Your best gear: shoes, tent, matt, sleeping bag and pillow, pants, shirt, jacket in decent style and color. You’re not a Papagei.

Good defense or running and hiding capability trained. Open mind and plan-B for all difficult areas and situations in your head, able to act instantly. Attention should not interfere with calmness, humbleness, openness and friendliness. Respect is what keeps you safe, not your Defense.

Share with the people around you, share music, photos, drawings, dances, sports, cooking, whatever you do – socialize and share. don’t make yourself just a customer, be a human to the locals.

Never, ever talk politics, religion, only listen and respectfully mirror without picking sides. Remember you have no say in local issues, not even as a foreign opinion. And you won’t understand them before living in it for minimum 10 years.

Write and take pictures for memory, digestion of the experience, but when taking pictures respect privacy, personality and culture. It’s not what’s lawful it’s what decent respect allows. Ask, engage and when allowed take a picture and share it.

Return from your adventure and write a little book for yourself, be it more words, photos, drawings, collected things, an experience book of your adventure. This you can share or keep to yourself for memory.

Bom dia,
